  • Friday Sept. 13th - WELCOME MEETING - FHW's own Mike Deren will help us welcome all new comers as well as old friends with an evening of introductions, information and fun surprises!

  • Saturday Sept. 14th - BEN KILHAM-KILHAM BEAR CENTER - Since 1993, Ben Kilham and his sister Phoebe have been rehabilitating and releasing orphaned, injured and abandoned black bear cubs. As licensed wildlife rehabilitators, by the state of New Hampshire, they have taken in cubs from New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. Kilham Bear Center.

  • Sunday Sept. 15th - MOUNTAIN RESCUE SERVICE - MRS President Steve Dupuis will give us some insight into what happens behind the scenes when we call for help! Whether you are stuck in rising water, hanging from a cliff or have a medical emergency deep in the wilderness, this team of highly skilled volunteers is on duty 24/7. Mountain Rescue Service .

  • Monday Sept. 16th - DAN SZCZESNY - “THE WHITE MOUNTAIN” - New Hampshire resident, long-time author and journalist, Dan Szczesny, will show us that Mt. Washington is more than just a Rock Pile! After dedicating an entire year exploring, Dan will prove it’s the cultural and natural soul of climbers and tourists from around the world. Dan Szczesny's website .

  • Tuesday Sept. 17th - BART DeWOLF - EAST OF KATAHDIN - As former Science Director of Elliotsville Plantation Inc., Bart will explain how the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument came to be. The generous gift of land by Roxanne Quimby, co-founder of Burt’s Bees, and cooperation of former President Obama, made available this new unit of the National Park System for all to enjoy!

  • Wednesday Sept. 18th - UPPER SACO VALLEY LAND TRUST - Executive Director, William Abbott will educate us on the benefits of land conservation, preserving historical land areas and buildings and protecting relatively natural ecosystem habitats. On a local level, he will share information on their public access lands to explore while visiting this region. Upper Saco Valley Land Trust .

  • Thursday Sept. 19th - THE PRESIDENTIAL TRAVERSE - Join committee members as they plan, train for and execute this exciting hike in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. There might even be a flashback to 1964, as we spend time in Edmands Col trying to locate the site of an old Quonset hut, where one of us spent a harrowing few days!
